Fillers
Dr. Kenneth Toft will assess your facial wrinkles
and folds to determine which treatment is right for you.
Restylane
Restylane is a natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores fullness to
the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such
as nasolabial folds and adds fullness to the lips.
Restylane has become the most popular current injectable filler. Restylane
is a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found
in all living cells. The treatment is a simple, in-office procedure that
requires no skin test and can last up to six months.
Perlane
Perlane is designed for more pronounced facial folds and wrinkles such
as those on the sides of the mouth. Perlane, like Restylane, is also made
of hyaluronic acid. Perlane is an excellent treatment for wrinkle correction
and filling smile lines and deep folds. Perlane is proven to deliver long-lasting
results. Studies have shown that Perlane effects generally last between
six to eight months.
Juvederm
Juvederm ultra is a hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into the facial
tissue to smooth wrinkles and folds, especially around the nose and mouth.
The results generally last between six to eight months.
Radiesse
Radiesse is a gel-like material composed primarily of hydroxyapetite,
an important component of our bone tissue. As a gel, however, it is soft
(not like bone). The results last approximately between 12-18 months.
The unique composition of Radiesse provides immediate visual improvement
common with other fillers, but with the benefit of long-term effects.
Collagen
Collagen has proven effective for the temporary treatment of small lines
such as those found in the forehead, around the lips and in other areas
of the face. Some depressed scars also respond well to collagen injections.
Collagen is a natural protein that provides structure
in the body. It is found in skin, muscle, tendons and bone. In the skin,
collagen provides texture, resiliency and shape. Over time, this cushion
wears down and lines may appear in various areas. By injecting collagen
material directly into areas where the body’s own collagen has weakened,
depressions can be raised to the level of the surrounding skin. Lines
and scars can be minimized and the skin texture may be improved.
Before your collagen injections, a simple skin test
on the forearm is administered to determine if you have a sensitivity
to collagen. If no reaction is evident within four weeks, treatment may
begin.
