Blepharoplasty (Eye Lid Surgery)
Aesthetics
Early aging can often be found in the eyes. This can take the form of
extra skin and bulging fat for the upper lids. For the lower lids, aging
eyes can consist of extra skin, bulging fat, and a prominent circle under
the eyes called a “tear tough” deformity. All of these problems
can be addressed during blepharoplasty. Performing the upper lids can
make your eyes seem brighter and more alert. You look less tired, giving
you a more youthful and rested appearance. Performing the lower lids give
you a more rested and youthful appearance by removing the “bags”
under your eye.
Technique
Dr. Toft performs the upper lids using a hidden stitch technique that
makes the skin incision smoother. For the lower lid, Dr. Toft can use
one of several techniques tailored to your lower lids. The most common
technique is the transconjunctival technique to remove the extra fat,
with a skin pinch or laser resurfacing to tighten the skin.
