Why Choose Dr. Toft

Certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Toft focuses his attention exclusively on the face. His years of experience help him create natural-looking results for eyelid surgery patients who come to him to:

  • Smooth wrinkled skin along the upper and lower eyelids
  • Eliminate bulges and bags
  • Minimize under-eye circles called "tear troughs"

Dr. Toft works to maintain the natural shape of the eye so a person's individual facial appearance isn't disturbed.

Although he recommends only having the essential procedures needed to achieve your cosmetic goals, some patients may need complementary procedures for more comprehensive results. Dr. Toft often combines eyelid surgery with a browlift or facelift to achieve a more ideal rejuvination.

Your Consultation

Prior to your procedure, you will have the opportunity for a private consultation with Dr. Toft in Sacramento. Eyelid surgery may utilize a variety of techniques, which Dr. Toft will customize to create your desired look. He will analyze your face and make recommendations for the best surgical approach. He will also give you an estimate of how long healing and recovery will take and when you can expect to be back to your normal schedule.

Kenneth M. Toft, M.D. the EXPERT in facial plastic surgery

Dr. Toft's training, experience, and practice are dedicated entirely to the art and science of facial enhancement.

The Procedure

Dr. Toft will customize your procedure to meet your exact needs. He will address the upper and lower lids separately to create a smoother, younger look. Here's how it works:

  • Upper Eyelids: A very small incision is hidden in the natural skin crease to remove excess skin and fat. Dr. Toft uses a special subcuticular stitch that leaves no marks on the eyelid. When necessary, he will also perform ptosis repair and additional enhancements.
  • Lower Eyelids: Dr. Toft typically makes a small incision that is hidden under the lower lashes so that he can remove excess skin. He chooses the transconjunctival technique - which utilizes an incision inside the lower lid - to remove excess fat. Dr. Toft can combine these techniques with laser resurfacing to smooth wrinkled skin.

Dr. Toft performs blepharoplasty for Sacramento patients of all ages and ethnicities, taking extra care to maintain the unique character of each person's face.

Your Recovery

How long your eyelid surgery will take depends on the extent of your procedure. Dr. Toft uses minimally invasive techniques to ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery.

Most eyelid surgery patients only need pain medication for about a day following the procedure. Your energy should be back within 3 days of surgery, and you should be looking good after 1 week. Although each patient's skin and healing speed are different, bruising is usually completely gone within 2 weeks.

Expected Results

Results will become visible as the skin heals and the incision marks fade. Since this procedure is personalized to each patient's needs, results will vary. Dr. Toft will be able to give you specific details regarding the expected results during your consultation.
